Tier List Hub

This hub is the ranking home for PETAPETA: School of Nightmares. Use it when you need a fast answer to two questions every lobby asks: which skill-tree nodes are worth cursed shards first, and which gamepasses actually change your odds. Rankings here are practical for September 2026 Normal clears and the path into Hard / Super Hard—not a fantasy DPS chart. PETAPETA cannot be killed; your power budget is capacity, stun windows, movement, and information.

Jump straight to the deep dives: Skill planner for a written spend order with example shard budgets, and Gamepasses ranked for honest Robux value. Pair both with Cursed shards and Hard mode so the tiers stay tied to how extraction actually works.

How we rank skills

Every rank answers one question: does this node raise extract rate or shard income before the next difficulty unlock? We do not invent fake numeric damage. PETAPETA is stunned or avoided—never deleted. That is why capacity and stun sit above cosmetics, and why auto-loot only climbs after you can already carry and survive.

  • S tier — First nodes you should bank toward every session until they feel settled.
  • A tier — Strong multipliers for routing and chase survival once S is online.
  • B tier — Comfort and starter perks that help, but do not redefine a run.
  • C tier — Cosmetic / QoL that you buy when the power tree is healthy.

Difficulty unlocks sit outside the letter board but matter just as much: Hard and Super Hard cost 3000 shards each. Unlock them only after you extract consistently on the difficulty below. Paying early for Hard while you still die with a half-full bag wastes the income multiplier those modes are meant to give.

Skill tier list (September 2026)

S — Shard Capacity, Stun

Shard Capacity is the backbone of progression. Default carry sits around 150 on Normal before upgrades. Harder lobbies pay more per successful extract (community routing often treats ~225 Hard and ~300 Super Hard as planning figures when capacity is still low), but none of that matters if the bag caps out mid-wing. Capacity turns every classroom sweep into permanent tree progress instead of wasted floor orbs. Invest here early so later runs are not artificially capped.

Stun is the only hard interrupt against PETAPETA. Grab the first stun node, then prioritize duration and charges over range. A slightly shorter cone that lasts longer and fires twice will save more extracts than a wide cone you can barely reuse. Save stun for door hangs, locker exits when the scream is close, and key turns at the gate—never as a panic spam the moment you hear footsteps. Details on hunt tells live on the PETAPETA page.

A — Speed, Stamina

Speed shortens hallway exposure and lets you rotate wings before the red overlay forces a locker. Stamina keeps that speed usable when the chase stretches across courtyards. Together they reduce “almost escaped” deaths more than most starter perks. Push them after capacity and a working stun kit, not before—fast legs with a tiny bag still stall the tree.

B — Auto-loot shards, starter perks

Auto-loot shines once capacity is raised; before that it mostly fills a bag you already max in one classroom. Starter perks (early flashlight comfort, small lobby conveniences, minor openers) are fine when you are clearing Normal on autopilot, but they should not delay S and A nodes if you still fail extracts.

C — Cosmetic / QoL

Skins, flair, and pure comfort nodes do not move extract rate. Buy them after Hard is unlocked and your stun / capacity baseline feels automatic. Archives lore spends are a parallel sink—worth chasing for story, not for ranking.

Gamepass snapshot

Full Robux breakdown lives on Gamepasses ranked. Snapshot for planners:

GamepassRobuxTier note
Thermal Death Scope399High value for new players—shows PETAPETA location
Super Powerful Flashlight199Mid—helps dark wings, not required
20 Player Lobby299Social / chaos, not a skill substitute
LV.1 / LV.2 / LV.3 starting lobbies299 / 199 / 249Pay-to-skip progression
Paid instant revive (level 5 notes, 7 Aug 2026)Convenience on late maps; still not required for Normal

None of these are required to beat Normal. Thermal Scope is the only purchase that regularly changes information for frightened first-timers; starting lobbies skip the learning curve you need for Hard.

How to use this hub with the rest of the wiki

  1. New account: Getting Started → follow the skill planner order → clear Normal with capacity + stun.
  2. Stable extracts: unlock Hard (3000), then Super Hard (3000) when Hard feels consistent—see Hard mode.
  3. Optional Robux: read gamepasses before buying skip lobbies.
  4. Learning the hunter: Players Hub and PETAPETA, plus PvP if you want to play as the spirit.
  5. Full routes: Walkthrough, Codes, Scripts, Updates, and the wiki links page.

Revisit this hub after major skill-tree patches. If a new node changes extract math more than capacity or stun, it earns a re-rank here and in the planner—not a silent edit buried in a guide.

When you argue ranks in Discord, cite the criterion: extract rate and shard income first, comfort second, cosmetics last. That keeps the list honest for solo night runs and stacked friend lobbies alike.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for School of Nightmares players.

What is S tier in the PETAPETA skill list?

Shard Capacity and Stun. Capacity raises how many cursed shards you bank per extract; stun is the only reliable interrupt. First stun node plus duration/charges beat range upgrades for most players.

When should I unlock Hard and Super Hard?

After you extract consistently on the difficulty below. Each unlock costs 3000 cursed shards. Buying Hard while you still wipe mid-run wastes the income boost those modes provide.

Are any gamepasses required to beat Normal?

No. Thermal Death Scope helps new players track PETAPETA, and the flashlight is mid-tier comfort, but Normal is fully clearable with skill tree progress and locker discipline alone.

Why is auto-loot only B tier?

Auto-loot fills your bag faster, but if capacity is still at the default ~150, you hit the cap early and the perk adds little permanent progress. Raise capacity first.

Where do I get a full spend order?

Use the written Skill planner for capacity → stun → speed → stamina → auto-loot → Hard → Super Hard → Archives, with example shard budgets per difficulty.
