PETAPETA School of Nightmares Players & Roles

Who hunts, who hides, and how Hard mode changes what you see in the school.

Players Hub

The Players Hub for PETAPETA: School of Nightmares covers roles, not a fantasy named roster. Omochi Studio’s school spin-off does not publish an English canon cast of named students. Survivors are generic Roblox avatars sharing the same tools: lockers, keys, cursed shards, stun nodes, and the gate. The only named threat that matters is PETAPETA (also called PETAPETA-sama)—a pale, long-haired crawling spirit you cannot kill. This hub points you to the deep monster page, explains survivor jobs, and links the systems that make those roles feel different on Hard, Super Hard, and PvP.

Start with the featured page: PETAPETA. Then read Mini PETAPETA before level 4. Pair role knowledge with Getting Started, the Walkthrough, Cursed shards, Hard mode, Super Hard, and PvP. Power rankings for upgrades live on the Tier List Hub and the written skill planner.

There is no named canon student roster in English sources worth listing. Do not invent classmate names for builds or tier lists. Talk about jobs instead: key runner, shard mule, stun caller, gate holder.

PETAPETA — the only boss that matters

PETAPETA cannot be defeated with damage. Your kit is stun, distance, lockers, and information. Hunt tells stack: footsteps, a red overlay, and a scream telegraph pressure. Hard mode changes the look—horns and pupils shift; Super Hard pushes toward red eyes—so veterans read difficulty from the model as well as from lobby settings. Full breakdown, mini PETAPETA notes, and PvP hunter tips live on PETAPETA, including the optional mid-article video on playing as human or as the spirit.

When you hear chase audio, decide in one beat: locker, stun, or sprint to a known safe prop. Panic zigzags in open courtyards feed the crawl. Practice the decision loop on Normal before you buy Hard mode with 3000 shards.

Survivors — how students actually win

Survivors win by extracting, not by fighting. Core loop:

  1. Sweep classrooms and lockers for cursed shards without over-cap waste—see Cursed shards.
  2. Collect the keys your chapter needs (counts rise in co-op).
  3. Open gate locks while someone watches for hunt tells.
  4. Leave with the bag; dead teammates keep only a fraction of shards, so body-block heroics are expensive.

Movement upgrades (Speed, Stamina) and Stun from the tier list exist to protect that loop. Auto-loot is comfort after capacity. Gamepasses like Thermal Death Scope help scared new players track the spirit, but they are optional—read Gamepasses ranked.

Co-op survivors should assign callouts: who holds stun, who watches courtyard, who turns the gate. Solo survivors should pre-plan locker chains along their route from the Walkthrough so a scream never finds them mid-hallway with nowhere to dive.

Mini PETAPETA and late pressure

Later chapters introduce mini PETAPETA pressure—community notes lean on level 4 for drain and collapse effects that punish greedy looting. Treat minis as resource taxes: they do not replace the main hunter, but they force earlier extracts and tighter stamina. Build capacity and stun before you greed every orb on those floors.

PvP — when a player is the nightmare

PvP rulesets let a player be PETAPETA. That flips the hub: survivors still loot and stun, but the hunter learns human pathing, bait lockers, and sound traps. If you want that angle, read PvP after the PETAPETA page so you understand both the AI tells and the player-hunter mindset.

How this hub connects

Use this page as the roster index whenever someone asks “who are the characters?” The honest answer is: one unkillable spirit, optional mini threats, and every other avatar is a student with the same homework—get out alive.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for School of Nightmares players.

Who are the playable characters in School of Nightmares?

Survivors are generic Roblox student avatars with shared tools. The named threat is PETAPETA (PETAPETA-sama). There is no published English canon roster of named classmates—do not invent one.

Can you kill PETAPETA?

No. PETAPETA cannot be killed. You stun, hide, and extract. Details and hunt tells are on the PETAPETA page.

What is mini PETAPETA?

A later-level pressure threat (commonly discussed around level 4) that drains or collapses greedy players. It adds resource tax alongside the main spirit, not a separate named student character.

Can players control PETAPETA?

Yes in PvP rulesets—a player can be the hunter. See PvP and the PETAPETA page for human-versus-spirit context.

Where should new survivors start?

Read Getting Started, then this hub’s PETAPETA page, and follow the skill planner so Capacity and Stun come online before Hard unlocks.
